Motor vehicle accidents continue to be a major cause of significant physical and psychological injuries. Level of severity can range from mildly debilitating to catastrophic injuries with life-altering implications. Resulting psychological consequences include depression, post-traumatic stress, anxiety, coping with chronic pain, and neuropsychological injury, to name a few. As clients go through their \u201clife cycle\u201d of recovery, it is important for psychologists to be aware of the \u201clife cycle\u201d of services that are marshaled around the client \u2013 when and how they come into play. Not only will these services affect the client, but also impact the delivery of psychological care. If you enter the field of private practice, you will inevitably encounter an ICBC case. ICBC is one of the major funders of psychological services in the province of British Columbia. How well you understand the system will greatly impact whether you can deal confidently and competently with your client\u2019s problems and\/or develop a lucrative referral stream of work.<\/p>\n
The objective of this workshop is to provide an orientation for working with the \u201clife cycle\u201d of an ICBC case and it\u2019s many unique nuances. The workshop will walk you through the process of working with ICBC, a client\u2019s legal representative, and the array of specialists that often come with your client. A noted addition to this year\u2019s workshop will be an orientation to the do\u2019s and don\u2019ts of providing expert testimony in court. A prominent team of recognized experts have been gathered to share their experience and guidance to help you in this area of work.<\/p>\n
The intention behind these workshops is to provide a foundation for doctoral students to build upon in their ongoing education before and after their registration into the College of Psychologists BC.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>
