
Mr. Xiaolei Deng

Mr. Xiaolei Deng obtained his Master degree in Clinical Psychology from The University of British Columbia in 2017. He is currently completing his PhD in Clinical Psychology at University of British Columbia.
Mr. Deng joined Chuck Jung and Associates (CJA) in 2021, as a student-therapist in their therapy practicum for traumatic brain injury survivors. He now is providing therapy at a reduced cost as a doctoral student-therapist for CJA, providing therapy for a variety of clinical problems. Mr. Deng’s work is supervised by Dr. Chuck Jung, Registered Psychologist. This is an opportunity to receive quality therapy but at a significantly reduced cost.
Mr. Deng works with adults and adolescents using evidence-based approaches, such as: cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Mr. Deng also draws heavily from mindfulness and psychodynamic approaches to explore subjective experiences in the moment and factors that might impede the progress of therapy.
Mr. Deng has expertise in working with individuals dealing with depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, Obsessive and Compulsive Disorder (OCD), self-esteem concerns, interpersonal effectiveness, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), brain injury recovery, somatic disorders, and adjustment difficulties.
Above all, Mr. Deng believes the struggle and striving of individual growth go beyond diagnostic labels, and he aims to foster a genuine and respectful therapeutic relationship to facilitate this growth. Mr. Deng is fluent in both English and Mandarin.
Some insurance companies may cover the cost of this counselling, particularly when supervised by a Registered Psychologist, but please check with your insurance company ahead of time.
