Registered Psychologists are professionals who are licensed and regulated by the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (CPBC). Registered Psychologists typically have doctoral degrees and meet high standards of clinical training and ethical practice. They are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat a range of psychological conditions. Registered Psychologists have been approved for funding by ICBC.

2. Who are Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCC) and Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC)?

Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCC) or Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC) are designations provided by professional organizations such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. These professionals have at least a Master’s degree in counselling or a related field and meet high standards of clinical training and ethical practice. Counsellors have an understanding of psychological conditions and are trained to provide treatment. Both levels of counselling designations have been approved for funding by ICBC. At Chuck Jung Associates, all clinical counsellors consult regularly with Dr. Jamie Patel, R. Psych (#2057).

An IME includes a detailed interview about the nature of injuries and the impact of those injuries on your life. The interview also includes a history of educational, social, occupational, medical, and psychological functioning. Our registered psychologists will administer and interpret standardized questionnaires as part of the IME.

According to the American Psychological Association (APA), psychological therapy uses scientifically validated procedures to help people develop healthier ways to manage their emotional problems.

Professional such as Registered Psychologists, Canadian Certified Counsellors, and Registered Clinical Counsellors are trained in providing psychological therapy for a range of emotional problems, including psychological conditions (e.g., depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use issues, etc.) and difficult life transitions (e.g., grief, job loss, divorce, adjustment to chronic health conditions, etc.).

Psychological therapy can be offered to an individual, to couples, to families, or in a group setting. The kind of treatment that is most beneficial for you depends on the nature of your problems.

There are different kinds of psychological treatments including cognitive-behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behaviour therapy among others. These therapies have been scientifically validated and found to be effective for different kinds of emotional problems. Registered Psychologists, Canadian Certified Counsellors, and Registered Clinical Counsellors rely on their training and will collaborate with you to decide which treatment will be the most beneficial for your goals.
