Dr. Johnson Ma is a registered clinical psychologist based in Vancouver, BC. He earned his M.A. in organizational psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University and completed his Ph.D. in clinical psychology with specialization in diversity community mental health at Palo Alto University. He has several publications on suicide and diversity issues.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Ma works as an assistant professor of clinical psychology at the Adler University (Vancouver campus). Dr. Ma has experiences in providing culturally appropriate mental health services to diverse underserved populations with severe mental illness and complex trauma in San Francisco Bay Area, Waianae Coast of Oahu Island, and Vancouver, British Columbia.

Dr. Ma has joined CJA since 2017. His focus of clinical work is providing diagnostic assessment and psychotherapy to individuals/immigrants undergoing rehabilitation from physical injuries and traumatic events. Treatment areas include depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress, chronic pain, and adjustment to neurological injuries.

Dr. Ma was the former coordinator of SUCCESS Chinese Helplines. He has presented various Chinese psychoeducational workshops aimed to raise awareness of mental health and adjustment issues among Chinese immigrant communities living in the lower mainland.
